About
Buffalo Historical Fencing
A historical fencing club in Buffalo built around training, pressure testing, theory from the sources and sport.
Historical fencing (HEMA) is the study of how people actually interacted with the sword — reconstructed from the books of historical masters and pressure-tested against a resisting partner. We treat it as an athletic discipline, an art and a sport: distance management until it's automatic, technique you can land against someone trying to stop you, and fencing that makes you better each week.
We compete, we cross-train with other clubs, and we welcome anyone 18 or older who's willing to put in the time — whatever your athletic background. Your first class is free and we'll lend you everything you need to try it.

Bring a water bottle and clothes you can move in. We provide the swords, the masks, and someone to walk you through it.
